I have worked with people experiencing significant loss and grief for many years. Here are 3 important things that I know:

Grief can be long, and it can be lonely - it makes a difference to have someone outside of your family and friends to listen and to guide you

While nothing can fix the loss of your person, through our talking together, you will feel less alone, less overwhelmed, and more able to manage all the difficult thoughts and feelings that come

We grieve because we love. We can’t throw away the grief because we wouldn’t want to throw away the love. We can learn to care for our grief because it connects us to our person, and it can help us, when we are ready, to make space for new hope and new life
